ANNE T. WICKE 1917-2014 OTIS - Anne T. Wicke, 96, of Monterey Road, passed away on June 18 at Fairview Hospital. She was born on September 18, 1917 in Flushing, NY, the daughter of Zofia Modzienkowska and Julian Brzozowski. She attended St. Agnes School in College Point, NY and then lived in Beechhurst, NY until moving to the Berkshires in 1995. Anne was devoted to her Catholic faith, and never missed Sunday Mass until arthritis limited her mobility in later years. Anne was a people person', and always had a smile and conversation to share. She loved to travel, and kept in touch with friends that she made along the way. Each year, she sent over 100 Christmas cards with a personal letter in each one. She also enjoyed music and the theater, and was known for making the world's best iced tea, roast duck, and apple pie. She loved to entertain, and treasured time spent with her family and friends. She loved to read, and felt it was important to learn at least one new thing every day. She was fascinated by the natural world, and especially loved to watch the birds and wildlife in her yard. She is survived by her daughters Noel Wicke of Monterey, Roxanne (Orlando) Luzi of Huntington, NY, and Jacqueline (Donald) Ceccorulli of Frederick, MD. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Meadow Rose Wicke of Monterey; Allison Giffuni, Pamela Spencer, and Carolyn Cycan of Long Island; Audra Jacob, Laura Ceccorulli, and Donna Joy of Frederick, MD, and Scott Ceccorulli and Christopher Luzi of Florida. She had a special relationship with her niece Joan Andrews of PA and nephew Gerry Birch of NY. She is survived by 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Fairview Hospital for their compassionate, loving care and support, and to Anne's friends, especially those at the Claire Teague Senior Center, for their many kindnesses and friendship. Calling hours for friends will be Friday, June 27, from 4 to 7 PM at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral will be private, in accordance with her wishes. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to Fairview Hospital or Elder Services of the Berkshires in care of Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home 426 Main Street Great Barrington , Ma 01230.
