Mrs. Carrie Goewey VanDeusen, 98, former resident of Dewey Way in Sheffield died early Friday morning, October 22, 2021 at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canaan, CT where she had been a resident for the past four years.
Born March 25, 1923 at the family home in New Marlborough, MA, she was the daughter of Frank and Carrie Scutt Goewey. She attended local schools in Hartsville and New Marlborough.
Carrie married her husband, Donald W. VanDeusen, on September 16, 1942 in Great Barrington. The couple was married for 67 years when Donald passed away on February 1, 2010.
Mrs. VanDeusen worked at the former Turner & Cook in Southfield as a machine operator for over 20 years.
She was a selfless soul who loved nothing more than taking care of her family. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and quilting.
Carrie is survived by three daughters; Janet Grandell and husband, Bob of Canaan, CT; Martha Towle and husband Kenneth and Donna Hutchins and husband John all of Norfolk, CT. She also leaves six grandsons, eleven great grandchildren as well as numerous beloved extended family members and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Donald, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Everett, Frank, Lola, Emma and Eldred.
SERVICES – A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 30 th at 11:00 AM at Hartsville Cemetery in Hartsville/New Marlborough, MA, conducted by Rev. Lee Gangaware.
