Christopher T. Carroll, Sr.

December 5, 1938 — September 6, 2016

Christopher Thomas Carroll Sr., a longtime resident of Scituate, Massachusetts, died on Sept. 6, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, following a long illness. He was 77.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 5, 1938, to Joseph and Rose Carroll, Christopher moved with his family to Scituate in 1982, where he lived until 2015. For many years, he ran his own sales and marketing company, American Marketing Company, from an office above Maria’s Submarine Sandwich Shop at Scituate Harbor. Later in life, he became an avid painter, actor and advocate of physical fitness. He was a spinning instructor at Baystate Athletic Club on the Driftway.

Next to the birth of his four children, his proudest moment came in 2013 when he completed the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk for the 25th year in a row.
Health problems led him to move to the Berkshires in 2015 to be closer to his youngest son.
He is survived by Christopher Jr. And his wife, Jenn, of East Bridgewater, MA.; James and his wife, Lisa, of Ridgefield, CT; Jennifer Carlin and her husband Christopher, of Pilesgrove, NJ; and Felix Carroll and his wife, Cara, of Monterey, MA;. He is also survived by two former wives: Ann Carroll of Scituate, MA and Mary Cadigan of Duxbury, MA. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Melanie Roake of Scituate, Gregory and Jeffrey of East Bridgewater, Griffin and Sydney of Ridgefield, Shannon of Piles Grove, and Henry of Monterey.
The family will hold a private memorial service in Scituate on Sept. 24.
