Curtis F. Ruppert passed away on October 7, 2021 at the age of 79.
Curtis was a man of few words with a dry sense of humor and a big laugh. He was born on Long Island, NY then moved to Great Barrington, MA in the 70’s where he worked many years helping to manage the family’s Lantern House Motel.
He was also a skilled amateur carpenter doing beautiful home improvements on our parents’ home and for other family and friends. He also crafted furniture as a hobby which he sold or gave to loved ones.
When he retired, he moved to the family farm in Truxton, NY where he again worked on many renovation projects. Curtis loved listening to all kinds of music or taking long rides with his favorite traveling companion, his beloved corgi, Katie. He was very good at keeping in contact with distant family, often surprising them with a visit. His travels often involved long out of the way routes which became known as “Curtis shortcuts” among his family. He will be missed by many.
Curtis is survived by his brother, Louis F. Ruppert and wife Susan, his sister Joyce R. Dinnar and husband Ken and three nephews, Louis F. Ruppert Jr, Raymond P. Ruppert, and Peter H. Ruppert.
SERVICES – There will be a graveside service on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 10:00am at Elmwood Cemetery, 90 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington, MA. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, Curtis would have wanted you to donate to your local humane society. He loved animals especially Katie, who was a rescue. To send remembrances to the family go to www.finnertyandstevens.com
