David Richard Gilmore, 76, of Great Barrington, died suddenly December 12, 2020, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
David was born April 14, 1944, to the late Robert Gilmore and Margaret (Herlihy) of Hartsville. After graduating in 1962 from Mount Everett High School in Sheffield, David joined the Army and served his country in Vietnam. After leaving the Army a decorated veteran, he began work in the banking industry, where he eventually rose to the position of vice president at First Agricultural Bank. After his career in banking, David worked both as a realtor with Barnbrook Realty and at Plaza Package until he retired recently.
For fun, David enjoyed trout fishing and watching sports, especially the Giants, Patriots, Boston Red Sox and horse racing. He also really enjoyed cooking with and for his family and friends.
David leaves behind daughter Dawn Gilmore Barenski of Lee; granddaughter Ava Barenski (who was his greatest joy), also of Lee; sisters Gail Elliot and husband Craig of Egremont, Nancy Davis and husband Arthur of Housatonic; and sister-in-law Janet D’Arcangelo of Pittsfield. David also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as very good friend Ray Almori and wife Leslie.
He was predeceased by his sister the Rev. Roberta Heath in 2015.
There will be no calling hours.
