Donald Leroy Wilson, 75, most recently of Housatonic, MA, passed away on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center with family by his side after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born in Great Barrington, MA, son of the late Mattie B. Wilson and Otis E. Wilson.
A well-known face throughout Southern Berkshire County, Donald was known as “Dee” to his many friends and family members. While he most recently served as the Superintendent of the Sheffield Transfer Station, Donald worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. He cooked in a number of local eateries over the years including 20 Railroad St., Berkshire School and the popular Ruby’s Diner on Main Street. In his free time he enjoyed cooking, fishing, reading his Bible, watching sports and recycling scrap metals.
Donald is survived by his daughter Annette, sons Donald Jr., Clifford, John, Brian and Otis, as well as 14 grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, December 4TH at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 9 Rosseter St., Great Barrington, MA.
