Eli G. Katz, 80, of Hollywood, FL and Lenox, MA died Feb. 12TH in Lenox providing a legacy of love, friendship, caring and respect to be carried forth by his family and all those who knew him. Born on January 6, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey, son of Solomon and Zelda (Girion) Katz. Eli graduated of Weequahic High School (1953) and Newark College of Engineering (1956) and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Eli was a pioneer in the use of computers in hospital engineering and facilities maintenance functions with one of the first successful software businesses, Maintenance Automation Corporation, for the industry. Eli enjoyed travel with his wife and exercise, especially hiking with the Monday Mountain Boys in the Berkshires, following his retirement in 1996. Eli is survived by his wife Phyllis (Steiner) Katz, his three children, Heidi, Linda and Daniel, and five grandchildren, Julie, Hilary, Hannah, Elliot and Jacob. The funeral will be Feb. 17th at 1 p.m. at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, 270 State Rd, Great Barrington, MA, conducted by Rabbi Ourach. Burial will follow at Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the National Parkinson's Foundation or the Michael J.
