Emma Drew, 94, of Stockbridge, MA died peacefully on July 9, 2017, at her daughter’s home in West Stockbridge, MA.
Born on February 20, 1923, in Sandwich, MA she was predeceased by her parents Hanna and Hugo Persson and her brother, Paul Persson. Emma was the wife of the late Lloyd Adams and later Roy Drew of Sandwich, MA.
Her life included service in the US Navy during World War II having earned several awards for outstanding service. While raising three daughters she received degrees from Cape Cod Community College and Bridgewater State College, graduating with highest honors. Emma enjoyed the years she spent teaching kindergarten and first grade at the Henry T. Wing School in Sandwich, MA.
Emma and Roy spent many years traveling throughout the United States and between their homes on Cape Cod and Florida. After Roy passed, Emma relocated to the Berkshires.
An avid sewer and crafter, she enjoyed the years she spent as a member of the service league at the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, MA and the many friends she made there.
Emma is survived by her three daughters: Mildred Christensen (Paul) of Bridgewater, MA, Marie Baron (Robert) of Morgan, VT and Stuart, FL and Marsha McMahon (Stephen) of West Stockbridge, MA. In addition to her daughters she is also survived by her sister Anne Sturtevant of Lexington, SC and her step-daughters Susan Ferrari of Jensen Beach, FL, Carol Crimm of Minden, NV and Jane Small (David) of Plymouth, MA and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At Emma’s request there will be no service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
