Evelyn H. Haile

Evelyn Henderson Haile passed away peacefully at age 107 at her daughter’s home in Bloomfield, CT on Sunday, August 29, 2021.

Evelyn was born in Lenox, MA on May 19,1914. She lived in Lenox where she attended Lenox High School. Following graduation, Evelyn attended Nursing School at Freedmen’s Hospital School for Nurses at Howard University. After graduating, she returned to the Berkshires where she worked at Fairview Hospital until she retired. Once retired, she became an avid painter and also enjoyed knitting and quilting.

She was married to husband, Moses Haile Sr. for 71 years. They raised their six children in Great Barrington, MA.

Evelyn is survived by her children Barbara Manier and husband Linton, Debra Vallarta, Myrtle Haile Suber and husband Elijah, Henry Haile and wife Eunice, and Patience Haile, her grandchildren Stephen Haile, Timothy Haile, Roland Manier, Colette Manier and Simone Carrington, her great-grandchildren Zaryn Manier, Jordyn Manier, Alexis Alvarez, Marcus Mourning, and Andre Carrington, and her niece, Anne Penn.

She is preceded in death by her husband and their eldest son Moses Haile Jr. and his wife Joanne Haile, and son-in-law Francisco Vallarta.

SERVICES – A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 3 at 10:00am at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, MA. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox, MA.
