Francis Joseph Majewski

Francis Joseph Majewski, 81, a native of Housatonic died Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Maryland where he had lived for many years. He is survived by his sister Barbara Louison, brother-in-law and friend Rit Louison of Housatonic, MA, sister Christine Williams and brother-in-law Barry of Sturbridge, MA, great aunt Sophie Banach of Housatonic, MA, God-daughters Sarah Peace of Bedford, MA, and Elizabeth Reed of Charlestown, RI along with many loving nieces, nephews, close cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Stumpner Majewski who died on February 2, 1988. The couple was married on April 18, 1961 in Maryland. Along with his parents he was also predeceased by his sister Jane Peace, two nieces Mary Nichols and Jennifer Johnson and his fiancée Mary Dunn.
Born December 11, 1934 in Housatonic, MA he was the son of the late Stanley H. and Helen Trzcinka Majewski. He attended local schools and graduated from the University of Maryland.
A veteran of the Korean War Francis enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on January 23, 1952 and was honorably discharged on June 22, 1955.
Mr. Majewski worked as a sales representative for Hallmark for many years.
Frank was an avid member of the Knights of Columbus, having been a Grand Knight as well as a member and past officer of the White Rose Polka Club of Pennsylvania. He was affiliated with St. Rose of Lima Church in York, PA and later St. Louis Church of Clarksville, Maryland.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 1085 Main St., Housatonic, MA, conducted by Rev. William P. Murphy, Pastor. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.
