Frederick Dewey Vorck, Sr. (6/23/1939-9/9/2015) Age 76 Frederick Dewey Vorck, Sr. died at 1:15 pm on September 9, 2015 of causes incidental to lung cancer. He is survived by his wife Margaret of 48 years, daughter Christine (Arthur) Wright of Maineville, Ohio; daughter Lisa (Michael) DeRuzzio of Copake Falls, New York; and son Fred Vorck, Jr. (Liza Wentworth) of Bethesda, Maryland. Grandchildren include Noah (Brooke) Wright and Angela (Cody) Egner; Therese and Rachel DeRuzzio, and Xavier and Lucy Vorck. Great Grandchildren include Julia and Samuel Wright. He was born in Boston, MA on June 23, 1939, son of the late Frederick W. Vorck and Martha D. Vorck. He attended Fessenden (grammar school), Noble & Greenough High School and then went on to college at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He then transferred to and graduated from Burdett School of Business in Boston in 1964. After a year of managing Berkshire Motors, he purchased the Southworth Building at 281, 283 and 285 Main Street in Great Barrington in 1966 where he began his venture with Dewey Electric, initially an electrical supply company that expanded to offering a variety of consumer appliances for sale while also providing repair services with sewing machines as his specialty. Fred was an avid boater and played an integral role in the formation of the Lake Buel Association in the 1970's, of which he was a member for many years. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington where he served on their finance board. Fred was a deeply genuine, kind, and supportive man among men and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service was held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor. A Memorial Mass was held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Parish in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. William P. Murphy, pastor.
