Mr. George G. Cronk “Busie”, 87, a longtime resident of Polikoff Road in Ashley Falls passed away on April 1, 2017 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington, MA.
A native and lifelong resident, he was born in New Marlborough, MA on October 22, 1929, the son of Samuel and May (Pruyn) Cronk. He graduated from local schools.
George enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 17, 1951. He served in Korea and received the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and the UN Service Medal before being honorable discharged on April 30, 1953.
“Busie” as he was referred to by most was a great story teller. He also enjoyed building and woodworking and was quite a handyman.
A jack of all trades, he worked in both the automotive industry as well as the lumber business. He worked in hotels, was a night auditor and he also drove local taxis.
George is survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
In accordance with his wishes there will be a private burial with Military Honors at the Ashley Falls Cemetery at a later date.
