Alford

George Carl Warner of Alford, MA passed away on June 26, 2026 surrounded by family and friends after a brief but gutsy battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on October 25, 1958 to Robert (Bob) and Linda Warner at Brady Air Base, Fukuoka, Japan, where his father was stationed while in the US Army. George was the consummate family man. His life was defined by his love of family, integrity, kindness, and service to others. Simply put; he was always there.

George was a champion listener, never a man of many words, but when he spoke, he always knew what to say. His calm presence, quiet strength, and counsel will never be duplicated or forgotten. May his wise words echo in our heads for years to come.

A graduate of Mount Everett High School in Sheffield, George spent 40 years building a career he valued and enjoyed at Minerals Technologies in Canaan, Connecticut, forming many lifelong friendships.

George enjoyed the things most people enjoy: travel, boating, golf, camping, all things NASA, Friday night cocktails, and Sunday breakfasts. Mushrooms, olives, three-putts and chemo; not so much.

Together with this father and brother, they lovingly restored a 1958 Chris-Craft classic wooden motorboat that has brought many hours of pleasure to family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob and Linda of North Egremont, he is survived by his wife, Sharon Connelly; his daughters Meagan (Josh) of Sheffield and Tarah (Robert) of Pittsfield, his brothers Dale (Jeanne) of Forney, TX, and Gary of Egremont. He is also survived by his step-children, Adam Carlotto (Ali) of Great Barrington, Susie Carlotto (Mark) of Ashley Falls; his beloved granddaughter Baily, as well as his former in-laws Jim and Shirley Roots of Alford. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pamela A. Roots.
