Mr. Harold O. Davis, “Hoot”, 80, of Clayton Mill River Road died on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Fairview Hospital.
A native and lifelong resident Harold was born in Mill River on May 30, 1937, one of eleven children of Harry Thomas Davis and Florence Ann Bownes Davis. He attended local schools in Mill River.
A 35 year employee of Mineral Technology, formerly Pfizer, in Canaan, CT, Mr. Davis retired in 1995.
“Hoot” was proud of his country boy roots and loved his tractors. He liked to be known as “The Icon” of Mill River. He was a loyal Yankee fan.
Harold is survived by two daughters, Star Woodward and Tammy Lane and husband Mark. Along with four grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Mark Davis and wife Kelly, Courtney Davis and wife Alicia, and Brittney Lane, seven great grandchildren Lily and Paul Davis, Joseph Moro, Matthew, Mackenzie, Jacob and Chelsea Davis. He also leaves his brother Valentine Davis and Sue of Great Barrington, as well as his devoted dog Siren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years Sheela Fay Woodcock Davis on June 4, 2001. The couple was married on November 10, 1962 at the former Mill River Congregational Church. He was also predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
SERVICES:
A memorial service celebrating the life of Harold will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at3:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Rich Hayes.
The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
