Hazel E. Brewer

November 15, 1919 — December 29, 2017

Hazel Brewer, 98, passed away on December 29, 2017 at Geer Health Care in Canaan, CT.

Born in North Egremont, MA on November 15, 1919, she was the daughter of Henry and Hattie Murphy Brewer. She attended local schools and was a 1937 graduate of Searles High School. She later attended Van Der Hayden Hall in Troy, NY.

For many years Hazel was a sales clerk at the former W.T. Grant store in Gt. Barrington. She then worked at B-D Medical Products in Canaan, CT. as a production worker. She also did child care for many area families. She was a faithful member of the North Egremont Baptist Church and its Ladies’ Auxiliary

Hazel is survived by her nieces Ruth Avenia, Susan Stone and Laura Olsen and her nephews Robert DeRevere and Dennis O’Brien. She also leaves many other grandnieces and nephews. Her grandnephew Kevin Wheeler and his wife Dian were Hazel’s caretakers for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters; Helen Babcock, Emma Proper, Freda DeRevere and Isabelle O’Brien and her brothers John and Harold Brewer.

Hazel’s arrangements are private and being made by Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Gt. Barrington, MA. She will be interred at Riverside Cemetery in North Egremont in the spring. To send remembrances to her family please go to www.finnertyandstevens.com
