Inge Anna-Luise Kouloganes

May 8, 1936 — January 9, 2017

Inge Anna-Luise (H ü ffmeier) Kouloganes, age 80, died peacefully, surrounded by family on January 9, 2017.
Inge was born in Rotekuhle, Germany on May 8th, 1936, the oldest daughter of seven children. From the start, Inge’s inherent strength was evident as she grew up and survived WWII and its aftermath. Her love of music and the arts defined her younger years; her stunning beauty and grace were captured on the big screen in the movie Ferien vom Ich (1952).
Later as a teenager, Inge became a loving au pair, began adventurous travels throughout Europe, learned to play classical guitar, and eventually embarked on an even greater adventure to the United States.
Fate led her to her loving soul mate Jimmy in 1961. A consummate love story, the young couple lived life to its fullest, exploring Stamford, New York City, and the world around them, always dressed as if going to a modern day gala. It was during this time the loving couple settled down and raised a family.
Inge truly believed her greatest achievement was giving birth to and raising her four children. Her relationship with Jimmy extended into their work life, together opening multiple restaurants in Connecticut, always determined to provide the best for the family she and Jimmy had built. Inge’s expert baking and cooking skills were defined through the traditional German and Greek cuisine she artfully presented. It was during these busy years that Inge was blessed with her only grandchild.
The couple resettled in Great Barrington, MA and were easily recognized as the best-dressed couple walking around town. When Jimmy became sick, Inge dedicated all of her energy to care for him in the last five years of his life.
Everyone who was blessed to know and meet Inge was immediately captivated by her spirit. Eternally elegant, she projected ultimate love and affection, compassion and care, style and grace. Her vibrant smile, infectious laughter, and radiant eyes will forever be in our hearts; all of the little things won’t be quite as perfect without her here.
