Joan E. Polesak, 80, of Green River Road in Alford passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Kimball Farms Assisted Living Center in Lenox. Born on June 25, 1934 in Queens, New York she was the daughter of George and Elinor Reeves. She was a graduate of Newtown High School in Long Island, New York. Joan moved to the area in the mid 1960's. She worked as a secretary at Austin Riggs in Stockbridge, A. Leo Nash Steel Corporation in Pittsfield and was a Realtor with the firm of Isgood Realty in Great Barrington. An EMT, Joan was a founding member of the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad. She was also a member of the National Ski Patrol working at Stratton Mountain in Vermont. An active member of her community she was a member of the Alford Cemetery Commission, The Alford Garden Club and the Thursday Morning Club. As a weather spotter for over fifteen years, she reported the weather to the Channel 6 WRGB viewers. Joan is survived by her sister Linda and brother-in-law Robert Warner of North Egremont and her nephews George, Dale and Gary Warner. She is also survived by Frederick's daughter, Janice Mallozzi and his son, Frederick Polesak Jr. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick Polesak who passed away in 2002. In accordance with her wishes funeral services will be private. She will be buried in Osborne Cemetery in Alford at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
