John Henry Elimar Peters, 61, of Main Street in Great Barrington passed away Tuesday evening, August 19, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born on May 2, 1953 in Queens, New York he was the son of Elimar and Elizabeth Bollmann Peters. While in New York he attended Grace Lutheran Elementary School and then Mount Everett Regional School in Sheffield. Following high school he attended Westfield State College. John had an amazing passion for music. He composed his own music and played various musical instruments. He enjoyed sharing his love for music by visiting nursing homes and senior centers. He was the organist for many local churches in the Great Barrington area. John is survived by his two sisters, Elizabeth Wells and her husband John of North Egremont, MA and Linda O'Neil of Old Chatham, NY, his brother in law William Kronen of Alberta, Canada as well as four nieces and five nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Kronen, his brother in law Charles O'Neil, and his nephew Stephen M. Wells. A service celebrating John's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Anne E. Ryder. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Egremont, MA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
