Manhattan

John Brailey Rosenberger died on June 16, 2026, in New York City, where he was born on January 22, 1981, and where he spent his life building meaningful connections, serving others and bringing warmth and humor to everyone around him. He will be remembered by those who knew him as intelligent, selfless, loyal and funny; a combination that made him both a trusted presence and a cherished companion.

He is already deeply missed by his mother Judith Brailey Rosenberger, his father Ernst Hey Rosenberger, his sister Anne Elizabeth Rosenberger and a host of friends, mainly from the Brooklyn stand-up comedy scene, (of which John was the “crown prince”) who have flooded the internet with loving tributes.

John earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He began his career as a coach for an all-girls softball team at Harlem RBI (now called DREAM), a non-profit youth development program. More recently John served as a College Assistant in Enrollment Management at Hunter College School of Social Work, part of the City University of New York.

Outside of work, John loved to cook, play softball, win at board games, feed stray cats, take long walks, watch movies (especially those that starred Jean-Claude Van Damme) and, through his photography, turn everyday objects into unique works of art. He was the ultimate superfan, of the NY Mets, Cincinnati Bengals, wrestling, punk rock and, most of all, his sweet gray girl cat, aptly named…Grandpa.

John’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness and generosity.
