Jonathan "Jon" Edward Ross, a long-time resident of Great Barrington, died unexpectedly on November 6, 2014 in Pittsfield following a long illness. He was 45. One of nine children, Jon was born in Pittsfield and grew up in Great Barrington. He attended Monument Mountain Regional High School and was an all-around handyman having worked throughout Berkshire County in a variety of construction fields. Jon enjoyed dirt bikes, snowmobiles, boating, NASCAR, and shining up his automobiles. He understood engines and other machinery with ease and was known to think fast on his feet. He could fix almost anything yet his greatest gift was to make people laugh. With a sharp wit and the ability to impersonate anyone, he could always bring a room to laughter. Jon is survived by his parents, Bill and Betty Ross of Pittsfield (formerly of Great Barrington); his brothers, Robert (wife Mary), Steven (wife Christine), Thomas (wife Karen), James (wife Jean), and William (wife Beth); sisters, Lyn Petricca (husband Bob), Laurie Student (husband Bernie), and Amy Comcowich (husband Greg); nieces, Stephanie, Kate, Tracey, Haylee, Ellen, Anne and Sophie; nephews, Jason, Daniel, Timothy, Tristan, Eric, Justin, Brian, James, Ethan and Ross; great-nieces Madeline and Ava; and great-nephew Finn. He will be deeply missed by his family and was blessed to have many friends. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 213 Main St., Great Barrington, MA conducted by Rev. William P. Murphy, pastor. There will be no calling hours.
