Joseph Savoy passed away peacefully at St Peter's Hospice Inn at Albany, New York on the morning of September 12, 2014 at the age of 96. Joe had been a resident at Atria Assisted Living in Guilderland, NY, where he resided with his loving wife of 73 years, Jean. They were previously long time residents of Great Barrington, MA. He was a devoted family man who is survived by his two daughters, Jeri Bosman and her husband Bob of Delmar, NY and Pamela Hogarty of Yellow Springs, Ohio. Joe is also survived by his loving grandchildren Robin Dobos and her husband Evan of Bantam, CT and Todd Smith and wife Laura of Voorhesville, NY. His greatest joys were his five great grandchildren, Quinn, Owen, Charlie Mae, Connor and Ivy. Joe was born in Hanford, CA on July 31, 1918, the son of the late Anna and Jerry Savoy. He worked as supervisor for First National Stores before opening J&J's luncheonette on South Main St. in Great Barrington. In later years he worked for Ward's Nursery and Kay Bee Toys. He was loved by all who had the great opportunity of knowing this wonderful man. A service celebrating the life of Joe will be held on Tuesday, Sept 16th at 3:00 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. There will be a private burial at a future date. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
