Joy Ovitt Eichstedt, 75, of North Easton, MA and former resident of Southfield, MA passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Joy was born in Hudson, NY on October 26, 1942, the daughter of the late Edna Lucy (King) and the late Ronald Ovitt of Sheffield, MA. Joy was formerly married to Peter J. Eichstedt Sr. of Sheffield, MA. graduated from Mount Everett Regional High School of Sheffield, MA with the class of 1960. She attended hair dressing school for one year in Connecticut.
Joy worked at the Council on Aging in Great Barrington, MA, for many years. She later worked at Beckton and Dickinson in Canaan, CT until she retired 14 years ago. She has most recently worked as a part-time Food Demonstrator at Costco Wholesale in Ma.
Joy enjoyed spending time with her large family, her children, and her grandchildren. She loved having Sunday dinners with her family and shopping with her granddaughters. Joy is predeceased by her son Peter J. Eichstedt Jr. She is survived by her daughter Desiree Logan and her husband Mark Logan, Sr. of Assonet, MA, and her daughter Kelly Bressette-Horgan and her husband Dan Horgan of North Easton, MA. Joy also leaves eight grandchildren, Mark Logan Jr., Michael Logan, Matthew Logan, Makyla Logan, Malloy Logan, Alexandra Bressette, Katerina Bressette, and Katherine Horgan.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Joy is survived by her sisters and brothers: Eleanor Heineman and her husband, Horst of Newington, NY, Roger Ovitt and his wife, Barbara, of Florida, Raymond Ovitt and his wife, Marie, of Falls Village, NY, Wayne Ovitt of Pittsfield, MA, Brian Ovitt and his wife Alice, of Sheffield, MA, Robert Ovitt of Southfield, MA, and Gary Ovitt and his wife, Cheryl, of Sheffield, MA. Joy was predeceased by her brothers Carlton Ovitt, Ronald Ovitt, and Jerry Ovitt.
