June Alice Williamson

June 29, 1947 — January 26, 2017

With great sadness, we announce the passing of June Alice (Roger) Williamson on January 26, 2017, in the arms of her loving husband Charles, at their home. June was born on June 29, 1947 in Great Barrington to the late Sara K. and Leamon M. Roger.
June lived a wonderful life with her husband Charles D. Williamson and the couple would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary on February 18th. She lived her life with her devoted husband and created a beautiful family including three daughters, eleven grandchildren and a great grandchild and soon to be great granddaughter. June and Charlie loved each other’s company, taking many trips including Scotland, Bermuda and all over the United States. June’s favorite place in the world was her home on Blue Hill in Great Barrington where she helped raise her grandchildren. June took great joy in decorating her home for every holiday for her family. She loved to watch all of her grandchildren perform in their school events on stage or the soccer, basketball and baseball fields of the Berkshires. June was a caring wife and loving mother who welcomed everyone in her home where she shared her love of life and laughter. Her spirit and endless generosity will be missed by everyone who knew her.
June was a 1965 graduate of Searles High School and enjoyed helping to plan class reunions. In her youth she was a champion horseback rider winning many trophies on her horse Smokey. She spent her youth working behind the counter at the local favorite “Red Barn” snack bar. June was also the secretary for the Tri-State CB Radio Club and earned a safety award for assisting motorists through the flood and winter storm of 1977. Her participation in the CB Club earned her the nickname “Junebug” which stayed with her for the rest of her life. In the 90’s, Charlie took up scuba diving and June motored the Zodiak diving boat off the shores of Lynn, Salem and Marblehead while Charlie brought up many tasty lobsters. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her girlfriends, especially Barbara and Arlene. June and Charlie could often be seen all over the Berkshires sharing a meal and having an ice cream in front of Aberdale’s.
June is survived by her husband Charles D. Williamson, daughters Valerie Angell and companion Derek Curtiss, Kara Quenneville and her husband David and Heather Atwood and her husband Rich. Her adoring grandchildren Kyle Williamson and wife Amber, Sage and Faith Angell, Danielle and Shelby Gomez, Dakota, Christian and Jackilyn Wells, Chelsea Brown and Ashley and Alexis Atwood.  Her great granddaughters Aava and soon to be Kylee Anne June Williamson.  June also leaves her sister Susan Roger McKay, husband James and several nieces and nephews.  She was the most caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend you could ever hope for.
June was preceded in death by her loving Aunt Ruth Taylor and sister Ruth “DeeDee” Brownson.
The funeral will be held Mon, Jan. 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sun, Jan. 29th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.
