Lakhan S. Verma

August 8, 1936 — February 6, 2016

Lakhan Verma, 79, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2016.
Born on August 8, 1936 in Kyampur, Aligarh, India, he was the son of the late Rampal and Revati Singh.
He came to the United States to attend the University of Missouri, receiving a BS degree in mechanical engineering.  Over his career as a construction project manager he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation and later for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, until his retirement in 2008.  He moved to the Berkshires in 2011 to be closer to his family.
He enjoyed playing and watching tennis, reading and spending time with family and friends. He was a self-proclaimed “news junkie” and was actively involved in the Sheffield Commission on Disability.
Lakhan is survived by his daughter Asha Von Ruden, her husband Curtis and their two children Madeline and Nathaniel of Sheffield; his niece Neeti Zaidi, her husband Asad and their children Dani and Sophie; his nephew Vinit Verma, his wife Vidhi and their children Rohan and Isha.
Calling hours for the late Lakhan Verma will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1-4 pm Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.
