Leonard (Lenny) Ohman

Leonard (Lenny) Ohman, 75, of Egremont, MA died Friday, May 2, 2025.

Born on March 21, 1950 in Boston, MA he was the son of Conrad and Madalene (Moses) Ohman.

Lenny was passionate about the Civil War and participated in many Civil War reenactments. He was a member of the 34th Battalion VA Cavalry Confederate black powder competition shooting team for over 50 years. The team believed in authenticity with their weapons and uniforms.

He followed the Boston Red Sox and everyone who beat the Yankees.

Mr. Ohman enjoyed a career that spanned over 35 years as a custodian in local schools. He interacted well with both teachers and students and was always proud of the work he did, particularly at the New Marlborough Central School.

Lenny had an even temperament, was quiet, kind and liked by everyone. He made an impact on so many people’s lives with his gentle demeanor and knowledge of many things. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Ohman loved his home that he shared with his wife, Airlie Ohman formerly Airlie Wheeler. The couple celebrated 39 years of marriage on April 12th.

Along with his wife, Airlie, he is survived by his oldest brother, Conrad Ohman, along with many extended family members both on his side and Airlie’s side. He also leaves behind his Confederate Team as well as friends from other teams both Confederate and Yankee.

He was predeceased by his parents, Conrad and Madalene Ohman, his brothers, John and Kenneth Ohman and his sister, Ruth Bergdorf.

SERVICE - Funeral service for Leonard (Lenny) Ohman will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. Burial will follow at Townhouse Hill Cemetery in South Egremont.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 10th from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
