Linda J. Higgins

Linda J. Higgins, 64, of Main Street in Sheffield, Massachusetts passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Born November 17, 1951 in Greenfield, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Henry and Justine (Phillips) Wheeler.  She graduated from Drury High School, class of 1969 and attended Berkshire Community College.

Linda retired this past December after 34 years as an Administrative Assistant at the Southern Berkshire Regional School District (SBRSD).

She was a Communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield where she was a member of their Woman’s Club.

Linda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Frank G. Higgins.  The couple was married on May 12, 1973 in North Adams, Massachusetts.  She also leaves her son, Frank J. Higgins and his wife Kristina stationed at Port Hueneme, California, her daughter, Shannon K. Higgins of Sheffield, Massachusetts, eight grandchildren, Maura, Tim, Maggie, Elizabeth, Henry, Katherine, Charles and Brigid, as well as her brother, Hank Wheeler of Pass Christian, Mississippi, and her sister, Jan Durfey of Jacksonville, Vermont.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield, celebrated by Rev. Bruce Teague, pastor.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.
