MARTHA CORNISH DOWNING Topsham, Maine-Martha C. Downing age 81 of Hubbard Lane died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. Martha was a teacher for many years while living in New Jersey before retiring to Maine in 2005. The Downing's vacationed at their home in South Berkshire County, where there was a long family historical connection to the area. Surviving are her four children, Christy Lopez of North Plainfied, NJ, Lindsay Schiafo and her husband Russell of Chester, NJ, Shelley Mazzarino and her husband John of Califon, NJ and Paul Cook Downing IV and his wife Dana of Dunellen, NJ. Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday June 27th at 12 Noon at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home 426 Maine Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230. Interment will follow in Mahaiwe Cemetery, Great Barrington, MA.
