Mary Romano, 99, passed away on November 6, 2014 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. She had been a resident at Fairview Commons Nursing Home for the past several years. Mary moved to Great Barrington 10 years ago to be closer to her family. Born on February 6, 1915 in Corona, New York she was the daughter of Vincenzo and Maria LaToraca Gammone. Mary loved to perform. She was very active in her local Senior Center in New York where she would sing, dance and act in their various programs up until she was 80 years. She is survived by her son Richard Romano, her grandchildren Stephanie Romano, Mary Morris and Jennifer May. She also leaves her grandchildren Frank, Lisa, Vincenzo and Lorenzo Romano and their mother Carolyn Romano as well as Antonio and Anna Marie Romano, her sister Antonette Florio, her brothers Daniel and Dominic Gammone and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lorenzo Romano and her son Lawrence Romano. A service celebrating the life of the late Mary Romano will be held on Thursday, November 13th at 1:00 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Arthur Kaufman. Burial will follow at Cross Road Cemetery in Mt. Washington. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
