Mildred (Millie) Cortesi passed away on April 8, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Sheffield, MA on August 4, 1929, the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Stanard Martin. She married Gino Cortesi of Falls Village, CT on September 27, 1950 and they were married for 58 years until Gino’s passing on November 24, 2008. They raised their five children while moving several times within the United States and England, as a military family. They settled in Westfield, MA in 1974 and lived most of their lives there. Millie moved to Connecticut to be closer to her surviving children during the last 6 years of her life.
Millie worked in cosmetic sales and enjoyed serving her customers. She had beautiful skin and had a reputation of being the “Queen of Creams”. Her best accomplishment was her amazing concern for and generosity to all of her family and friends. She loved children and was a wonderful Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many people she met thought she was a wonderful woman and found her to be an honest, down-to-earth and funny person. She was a devoted member of the Mountain View Baptist Church in Holyoke, MA.
She was predeceased, by her husband Gino; her sons, Mark, Joseph and Thomas; and her brothers Donald, Kenneth and Buster. She leaves her son, Tony Cortesi and his wife Barbara Caffary-Cortesi; her daughter Susan Mulcahy and her husband Douglas Mulcahy; her grandchildren, Angela Cortesi, Sara Acus, Anthony Cortesi, Justin Mulcahy, and Zachary Mulcahy; her great-grandchildren, Samantha and Kendall Acus, and Allie, Collin, Kayden and Kaylyn Cortesi; and her brother Clarence Martin Junior.
