Morton "Morty" Josel

The family of Morton (Morty) Josel is saddened to announce his passing on Sunday, the 17th of March 2024, in Alford, Massachusetts at the age of 87. Morty is survived by Sandra, his beloved wife of 64 years, his children, Seth, Wayne and Leslie, Jana and Jason, his grandchildren, Madelyn, Eli and Noah, and his sister, Elayne.

Morty loved being outdoors. He hiked on a regular basis with the wonderful Monday Mountain Boys. He enjoyed tennis, skiing, and tending to his garden. Additionally, he was a greeter at Butternut during the winter ski season.

As a long-time member of Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, Morty was a Trustee and the Treasurer for four years.

Sandra and Morty were volunteers at Tanglewood for over twenty years. They also volunteered for the Literacy Network of South Berkshire as well as the Berkshire Community Diaper Project.

He was an Assessor; and he served on the planning and finance committees of the Town of Alford.

Service: Funeral service for Morton (Morty) Josel will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, 270 State Road, Great Barrington, MA. Burial will be held at New Montifiore Cemetery in West Babylon, NY.
