Myrtle M. Twing, 95, a longtime resident of Mill River passed away on May 19th at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington where she had been a resident for the past several years. Born in Falls Village, Conn on July 28, 1919, she was the daughter of Albert and Nellie Doty French. Myrtle spent a large portion of her life working on the farm. She loved taking walks with her family and tried to get as much out of everyday as possible. She was a wonderful singer, wrote poetry and she loved having tea and playing rummy with her grandchildren. She is survived by her four sons; Frank Twing of Mill River, MA, Robert Twing and wife Aleta of Mill River, MA, Reginald Twing of Great Barrington, MA and Gilbert Twing and wife Patty of Pittsfield, MA; seven daughters; Eleanor Morey and husband Richard of Clarksville, TN, Roberta Tanner and husband Arthur of Millerton, NY, Gloria Fifield and husband Allen of Sheffield, MA, Beverly Snyder and husband James, Hollis McNulty and husband Steven and Priscilla Stevens and husband Roger all of Ashley Falls, MA and Janice Lang and husband Thomas of Great Barrington, MA; her sister Leona Caroll; 45 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Frank J. Twing on April 4, 1981. The couple was married on February 20, 1936. She was also predeceased by two grandsons, Richard A. Morey and William J. Morey, two great grandsons, Richard L. Morey and Mitchell Twing as well as three brothers and four sisters. A service celebrating Myrtle's life will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow in Mill River Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 25th from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Great Barrington.
