Nancy Calero

Nancy (nee Lowden) Calero, 84, of Stockbridge, MA passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 of natural causes, just a couple of weeks shy of her 85th birthday.

Known to most as “Penny”, she was born in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on June 4, 1941. She was the oldest of two daughters, born to Franklyn and Grace Lowden.

Nancy attended Williams High School, where she enjoyed drawing and graduated in 1959 as Art Editor. After high school Nancy completed her academic career at Northampton Commercial College, located in Northampton, MA.

After college, Nancy found a workplace home at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where she built numerous life long relationships. It was during this that she met her future husband, Vicente Calero through a chance encounter with mutual friends of her mother. This began the most fruitful time period of her life. Over the next 20 years, this most unexpected partnership with Vicente produced 2 sons, a loving family home in Housatonic and eventually Stockbridge, multi generations of dogs & cats, and a new circle of extended family through her labor of love, babysitting. Penny loved crafting, always making beautiful items for those she loved. She and Vinny were also avid campers at Woodland Hills Campground, where she also worked for several years before retiring.

Retirement and grandchildren drew “Penny & Vinny” to relocate to Buffalo, NY, in 2009 so they could be closer to their grandchildren.

Nancy was a caring friend, an understanding companion, and a beautiful role model/wife/mother.

She leaves behind a legacy that is carried forward through sister Marjorie “Midge” Kroll, sons David (Tiffany) and Christopher (Jennifer) and most importantly-grandson Giovani and granddaughter Julianna.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents in 1980 and husband Vicente in 2011.
