Nellie Sarah Hudson

September 30, 1920 — January 25, 2021

Nellie Sarah Hudson, age 100, of Great Barrington, MA passed away on January 25, 2021. She had resided at Fairview Commons Nursing Home for the past few years. Nellie was born on September 30, 1920 in Southfield, MA. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mabel (Austin) Hudson.

Nellie attended and graduated from the New Marlborough High School in 1939. She was employed by Turner and Cook Factory as a machine operator. Eventually, Nellie moved to Great Barrington where she was employed in the inspection department of Great Barrington Manufacturing for a number of years. Nellie retired in the 1980's.

Nellie had been a member of the Southfield Church and most recently, she attended Open Door. Nellie was well known for speaking her mind and telling people what she thought whether you wanted to hear it or not. She enjoyed reading, movies, music and visiting with her family and friends. Most importantly, Nellie became sole caregiver to her younger sister, Sylvia, before her passing in 2009.

Nellie was predeceased by her parents and sister. She leaves behind many friends including Mary Errichetto and her family of Stockbridge, MA. and Priscilla Cook of Great Barrington, MA., and her many friends from the church and nursing home.

Arrangements are in the care of Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home. Due to the Coronavirus restrictions, these services will be private.

A very special thank you to Dr. Dennis Kobylarz and his wife Audrey, for the many years of care, service and loyalty given to Nellie. Even with Nellie's dementia she never forgot either of you and she always spoke of you both with admiration.

Also, a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff of Hospice. Our hearts and minds were at ease knowing you were there for Nellie.

We would like to thank the staff at Fairview Commons Nursing Home for all their dedication and hard work especially during these trying times.
