Peter Brown, 91, of Corashire Road, Monterey, MA, died peacefully October 1, 2026 at Berkshire Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Great Barrington to Frederic and Florence (Gillett) Brown. He married Joan Harmon on December 4, 1954. They were married 62 years before her death in 2017. He was predeceased by his wife, parents, brother Robert, and great-grandson Adin Peter. He is survived by three sons: Peter, of Tucson, AZ (Robin), David, of Monterey (Donna), and Stephen, of Ghent, NY (Lynn); eight grandchildren: Nathan, Mark, Andrew (Jusdina), Christopher (Matthew), Jessica (Chuck), Alexander, Adam (Stacey), and Matthew; five great-grandchildren: Asher, Sienna, Hadley, George, and Graham; sister-in-law Mary Ann; three nieces, a nephew, and his beloved cousins. Peter was the Postmaster in Great Barrington until his retirement in 1990. He was a longtime Mason of Cincinnatus Lodge and served in many leadership positions over the years. He also served his hometown of Monterey over many decades as a fireman, selectman, and election monitor. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Great Barrington and played both organ and piano. He loved music. He sang in the church choir for many years and played the organ at two of his sons’ weddings. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6 at 10:30am at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington. Arrangements are through Finnerty & Stevens, Great Barrington.
