Philip Consolini, 90, a longtime resident of Great Barrington passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Fairview Commons. Born on May 20, 1924 in Canaan, CT he was the son of Victor and Anna Sartori Consolini. He attended local schools in Canaan. A veteran of World War II, Philip enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 25, 1945. He served with the Battery A 388th Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion and was honorably discharged on August 4, 1946. Mr. Consolini retired from Becton & Dickinson where he had worked as a machinist for many years. Philip was an avid bowler and belonged to many leagues throughout the years. He also loved the N.Y. Yankees and never missed watching their games. He enjoyed area restaurants where he was known as a "regular" at many. He married his wife, the late Jane Hayes Consolini on November 13, 1944. The couple enjoyed 56 years of marriage until her death on March 20, 2000. Philip is survived by his son Philip, Jr. and his wife Linda, his two grandsons Thomas Hankey and his wife Sheila and Michael Hankey and his wife Brittany, a great grandson Thomas Hankey, Jr. and a great granddaughter Hailey. Along with his wife Jane he was also predeceased by his daughter Theresa M. Consolini who died on January 26, 2005. The funeral service for Philip Consolini will be on Monday, January 5th at 10:00 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 5th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
