South Egremont

Phyllis Tinker Weaver, 73, of South Egremont, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her home on March 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Phyllis was born on April 15, 1952, to Preston Sr. and Margaret Tinker of Great Barrington. She dedicated her life to her family, her community, and her work, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Douglas Weaver Sr., and her children: Douglas Weaver Jr. and his wife Lynelle of Cheshire, and their children Alexi and Jackson; Kimberly Bleau and her husband Anthony of Ashley Falls, and their children Kolby, Luke, Matthew, and Natalia. She also leaves behind her sister, Sarah Schneider of South Egremont, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends and family members who were dear to her.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Preston Sr. and Margaret Tinker of Great Barrington, her sister Ann Spurr of South Egremont, her brother Preston Tinker Jr. of Dalton, and her nephew Todd Tinker of Canaan, New York.

Phyllis was known for her kind, loving, and generous nature, always thinking of others before herself. She cherished spending time with her family—playing games, attending sporting events, camping, and enjoying quiet moments on her front porch watching the rabbits and birds among her flowers. Her sense of humor and talent for telling jokes brought joy to all who knew her.

After returning to the Berkshires with her family in 1985 from Canaan, Connecticut, Phyllis had a long and fulfilling career in banking, beginning at Lenox Savings Bank and later at Pittsfield Coop, where she built lasting friendships with colleagues and customers alike.

Calling hours will be held at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home on Monday, March 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, conducted by Father William P. Murphy, at 90 Stockbridge Rd., Great Barrington, MA.

A celebration of life will be held at the North Egremont Fire House on April 25 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made c/o Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, to the Phelps Cancer Center in Pittsfield or Hospice Care of the Berkshires, in memory of Phyllis’s enduring spirit and love for others.
