Richard F. Dellea, 80, of Church Street in Great Barrington passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones after a courageous battle against cancer September 28, 2016.
Born June 8, 1936 in Alford, MA he was the son of Richard and Gertrude Wheeler Dellea.
Richard was a dairy farmer on the Dodd’s Farm in Hillsdale NY.
He was a proud member of the Hillsdale Volunteer Fire Department. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as going to tractor pulls and fairs. He also loved to square dance.
Richard is survived by his daughter Linda Kahlstrom and her husband Edgar of Otis, MA; his son Richard Dellea and significant other Beth Dupont of Sheffield, MA; his brother Paul Dellea and wife Nancy of Hillsdale, NY; three sisters, Martha Wool, Carol Arienti and husband William, and Barbara Muller and husband William all of Great Barrington, MA; his four grandsons, Matthew Dellea and his wife Alex of Westfield, MA, Edgar (BJ) Kahlstrom and significant other Christina Gadway of Sandisfield, MA, Robert Kahlstrom and Shawn Dellea; his great granddaughter Makaila Kahlstrom, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Lillian Crane Dellea on June22, 2012. The couple was married on August 7, 1965. He was also predeceased by one sister Shirley Wells.
A service celebrating Richard’s life will be held on Monday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 2nd from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Great Barrington.
