Richard H. Legeyt

Richard Huggins LeGeyt, 83, passed away on October 28, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Born on January 18, 1936 in Canaan, CT., he was the son of the late Edwin and Gertrude Huggins LeGeyt.  He was educated locally. He worked with his father on Tobey Hill Farm, which he continued to be a part of until his passing. Richard was always active in the Trinity Methodist Church in Ashley Falls where he was a Trustee.  He was also a 4-H Leader and a member of the Sheffield Grange. Richard married his wife Betty Salois LeGeyt on November 2, 1963 in Lynn, MA. and they would have celebrated their 56th Anniversary next week.  Together they raised four children; Susan LeGeyt, Philip and his wife Joanne LeGeyt, Lesley and her husband Kevin McLoughlin and Karen LeGeyt and her husband Robert Poulter. He was the proud grandfather of Arielle Van Deusen-McLaughlin(Greg), Chris, Liz and RJ Poulter, Nick LeGeyt,  Emily, Ashana, Savannah and Liam LeGeyt and Kyle, Ricky and Travis McLoughlin.  He also leaves his sister Helen Roberts.

SERVICE - Funeral services for the late Richard LeGeyt will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10:30 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Ashley Falls, with burial immediately following at the Sheffield Center Cemetery. Pastor Ken Phesay will be officiating.
