Richard F. Snow

Richard F. Snow “Snowy”, 78, died peacefully in his sleep on March 30, 2018.  A lifelong resident of Gt. Barrington, Dick and beloved wife Jan resided in South Egremont for the past 25 years.

Born on August 14, 1939 in Gt. Barrington, he was the son of Harvey & Gertrude Snow. A graduate of the former Searles High School, he began his career at Wheeler & Taylor Insurance Agency at the age of nine, emptying waste baskets and doing odd jobs for the firm’s founder, Robert Wheeler.  He eventually worked his way up to President of Wheeler & Taylor in 1986 and retired in 1994.

Dick was very involved in his community where he was a member of the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, Construct, Inc., United Way and a board of director at Pittsfield Co-Operative Bank.  He also served his country in the United Stated Army.

Besides his wife of 34 years the former Jan Nyce Snow, Dick is survived by his adoring and adored step-daughter Kim Choquette of California, his step-son Joseph Choquette of Colorado, his three sisters Joyce Schram, Jean Snow and Elaine Miller and two brothers, Ted and Bruce.  He also leaves his two sisters-in-law, Nancy Warner and Marilyn Lewis and many nieces and nephews.  “Snowy” will be sorely missed by his many devoted friends and acquaintances.

The omission of flowers is requested, and the services are private.

Memorial donations may be made to either the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad or the Berkshire Humane Society through Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Gt.
