Richard Henry Wagner, 72, of Clayton Road passed away on October 16, 2018 at his home.
Born on February 21, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT. he was the son of the late Henry and Marion Richert Wagner. He was raised in Milford, CT. where he graduated from Milford High School.
A proud member of the U.S. Navy from December 27, 1966 until December 18, 1970 Richard served on several ships and submarines including the USS Abraham Lincoln.
Richard married his wife Carol on June 16, 1967 in Bennington, Vt. In 1983 the family moved to Canaan, CT. where they lived for over twenty years and later moving to the Sheffield/Ashley Falls area. Richard worked in Falls Village for Northeast Utilities Power Plant as a Hydro Operator for over 25 years.
He was an active member of the Canaan Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He was a wonderful “Poppie”, dearly loved by all his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol, along with his son, Richard and is wife Ginger, his daughters, Rachel and her husband Robin, Rebecca, and Ruth and her husband John. He also leaves his adoring grandchildren; James, Renee, Jazmine, Marissa, MarKenzia, Peyton, Jenaveeve, Oliver, Brett, Devon, Danielle and her husband Jamal, Kaya and Henry as well as his great grandson, Robert Charles, as well as his sister Marian along with his large and loving extended family of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

– The family of the late Richard H. Wagner will receive friends on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, MA from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
