Robert Dale Brown

September 3, 1942 — July 28, 2018

Robert Dale Brown, 75, of East Main Street, Stockbridge, Mass. passed away, of natural causes, at his home on July 28, 2018.

He was the Son of Ethel Ruesch-Brown and Dr. Wesley C. Brown (of Stockbridge) and beloved Father of Stephanie D. Brown (of Connecticut).

Robert was born in Worcester, Mass on September 3, 1942 and was of Swiss and English heritage. He grew up in Petersham, Mass and enjoyed an action-packed and jubilant childhood amongst the woods of the Quabbin Resevoir. He graduated from Worcester Academy in 1960 and joined the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War from 1961-1965 (we thank him for his service to our beloved country). After returning from active duty he met and married Jan V. Dee, and in 1967 had one child, Stephanie. In 1970 Robert obtained a B.S. in Forestry Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After divorcing in 1971, Robert lived with his Mother in Stockbridge. In the 90's Robert returned to school and received a M.A. in History from North Adams State College.
Robert "Boomer" Brown was an avid Red Sox Fan, Music Lover, Swimmer, Skier, Fisherman, Naturalist, Animal Lover and Patriot who loved to be outside; where he felt most comfortable. He owned a wooden sailboat and spent many Summers on Cape Cod and in Rockport, Mass with his family; teaching his daughter how to swim, sail and respect the ocean. He was a tree surgeon and began his career with the Haupt Tree Company in Northampton, Mass. He worked with trees his entire adult life and taught all he knew about their importance and beauty. He was the Tree Warden for Stockbridge in the late 1990's and also sold life insurance for the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company in the 70's and 80's out of Springfield, Mass.

Throughout his life he was well known for his energy, enthusiasm, tenacity and passion for living life to its fullest. He was an incredibly generous, loyal and kind man who was sincere in his care for others. He loved his country and could always be seen wearing the American flag on his lapel. He was the most stalwart and loving father anyone could ever have. Robert leaves his Daughter, Stephanie, her Husband Rick and a slew of friends whom he loved, admired and truly appreciated.
