Rosemary Carpenite

July 6, 1935 — September 7, 2024

Rosemary Carpenite, 89, a long time resident of South Egremont, MA who recently relocated to Canaan, CT died on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

Rosemary was born July 6, 1935 in Flushing, NY to Leo and Dorothy Reichert. She had an idyllic childhood in Pelham Manor, NY, where she was raised with her sister, Dorothy and brother, John.

After graduating from Pelham Memorial High School, Rosemary headed to NYC to experience big city living. It wasn’t long before friends introduced her to skiing the Berkshires and, most importantly, her future husband, Thomas. Rosemary and Thom were married in 1967 and made the Berkshires their home. They opened their home to family and friends, hosting annual family reunions that created lasting memories for multiple generations.

Rosemary was an avid tennis player and a nationally ranked skier, cultivating lifelong friendships.

Until her retirement in 2007, Rosemary was the Office Manager at an outpatient behavioral health office in Lakeville, CT. Not one to sit down for long, she immediately volunteered at the local food pantry in Great Barrington where she found great joy in interacting with clients and other volunteers.  Rosemary’s volunteer work also included the local library, which was perfect as she continued her love of reading to her last days.

Her husband, Thomas, predeceased her. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Green of Stamford, CT, her brother, John Reichert of Greenport, NY and 10 nieces and nephews.

Per Rosemary’s request there will be no service.

Those who wish may make donations in her memory to the Berkshire Humane Society through Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230, who is caring for the arrangements. To send remembrances to her family please go to http://www.finnertyandstevens.com
