Ruth Ann (Kellogg) Andersson, 75, formerly of Great Barrington died on November 1, 2015.
Ruth was born December 20, 1939 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts to Lee and Alice Kellogg. She was the youngest of the four Kellogg children.
Ruth graduated from Searles High School in Great Barrington in 1957, and began work in the offices of Great Barrington Manufacturing. In November 1961, she married Anders G. Andersson, and for the next four years she accompanied her husband on his various Air Force assignments. In 1964, she gave birth to their son, Erik, at the U.S. Military Hospital at West Point, New York. The next thirty years were spent in the Capitol District of New York State, living primarily in Saratoga Springs. During that time, Ruth worked for a number of years for The Carl Company in their offices. In 1996, Ruth and her husband moved to the Northwest, living in Poulsbo, Washington, The Dalles, Oregon, and in 2004, moving to Salem.
In addition to her love for Dexter, her Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Ruth was an avid country music fan, and especially loved the group Alabama. Her favorite hobby, however, was photography. She particularly enjoyed photographing wildlife, from humpback whales off the Massachusetts coast to wild horses on Asseteague Island, Maryland. Her absolute favorite subjects were the elephant seals at Piedras Blancas near San Simeon, California, and she spent many hours documenting the behavior of these magnificent animals. She is survived by her husband, Anders, her son, Erik, of Portland, and several nieces and nephews in New England.
