Ryan A. Storti

August 3, 1990 — May 6, 2016

Officer Ryan A. Storti, 25, also known as “Rabbit” died early Friday morning May 6, 2016 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born August 3, 1990 in Pittsfield, MA he was the son of Gary and Jennifer Canon Storti.  He attended the Co-op preschool in Great Barrington then went on to the former Housatonic Elementary School, the former Stockbridge Plain School, Searles Middle School and was a 2008 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School.  After Ryan attended small schools in all of these towns he developed a committed stewardship of his community.
Ryan was lead from Cub Scout thru to Life Scout under the guidance of Anne Pinkston, Chris Sweet and Burt Ball.  It was here that he learned the importance of service and leadership as well as how to work as a team member.  This led him to pursue a career in criminal justice.
Officer Storti began working at the Great Barrington Police Department in March of 2014. He was a recent graduate of the Western Mass Police Academy in Springfield, a 2012 graduate of Berkshire Community College where he received his Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.  He took great pride in his work and believed strongly in the idea of being a Community Policeman.  Ryan would always go above and beyond to help someone in need, especially if that person was a child.
He owned South County Lawn Care Company.
Ryan lived everyday to the fullest.  He would travel hundreds of miles to attend a country western music festival.  He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter.  He loved all motorsports, spending time with his family and friends on Stockbridge Bowl and being out on his boat with his dog Bella.  Ryan spent countless hours working on his truck.  He was a collector of older cars and guns; he was also a passionate Yankee fan.
Ryan leaves his parents Jennifer and Gary Storti who was always his mentor and inspiration, his dog Bella, his girlfriend and love of his life Cait Bessette and her family especially Jenna, his uncle Brian and aunt Linda, cousins Shyer, Todd and his wife Vicki Storti, his aunt Karen Gauthier, cousins Tamara, Kelly, and Jeffrey Gauthier, cousins Natasha and Jacob Storti, cousins Ashleigh, Julia and Will Martin, cousin officer Chris Storti, cousins Kristeena, Robby, Michael, Brynn and Braelyn Thompson, his uncle John and aunt Marie Canon, cousins Scott, Jessica and Taylor Canon, cousins Brian, Katrina, Makena and Vinny Canon, cousins Lou, Marty and Ann Marie Grew, and Judy and Ronnie Powers.
He also leaves his longtime friends Nate Sermini, Dominic Scapin, Shane Cardillo, Elias Casey, Andy Cambi, Bradley Lupiani, Olivia and Trevor Cobb and their children Kylie and Levi, Willy Steiner, Joel Boyer, Timmy, Kathy and Kevin Hoctor, family friend Dale Barbieri, his god mother Sherrie Piccolo, Dan Bartini and his brothers in arms at the Great Barrington Police Department as well as numerous other family members and friends too numerous to count.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparent John and Eleanor Canon and his paternal grandparents Leon and Virginia Storti, his aunt Kathleen and his uncle Tony Pruhenski and his uncle Tom Storti.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 251 Main Street, Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall.
