Susan Storck Binger was the child of John P. V. Storck and Nina Tonks Storck and raised by her stepmother, Lucie Giles Jowers Storck, after her mother’s death. She was valedictorian at the High School of Music and Art (now LaGuardia) in New York and graduated from Radcliffe College in 1953, having married Bronson Binger the year before. She raised three daughters, Lucie Spieler (Jay), Emily Cooper, and Sarah Binger James (Aaron), and volunteered with several organizations, including the Radcliffe Club of New York, of which she became president, and the Church of the Heavenly Rest. After she and Bronson were divorced, she went to work in development at the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. A steadfast friend, terrific cook/hostess, and engaged and loving mother and grandmother, she provided a New York berth for innumerable friends, some staying with her for days, some for months. She died in Housatonic, Massachusetts, in the house she shared with her daughter and family. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, 296 9th Ave, New York, NY 10001, or to the charity of your choice.
