Virginia Freudenberger, aka “Grandma Ginny” and the oldest resident of Stockbridge, of Main Street Stockbridge, MA died peacefully on November 13, 2016.
She was born December 22, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, to Rudolph A. Rung (Vienna, Austria) and Anna E. Noechel (Rochester, NY).
A graduate of Hempstead High School and DeMott’s Business School, she was employed at Equitable Life Insurance and later at Doubleday & Co.
On February 19, 1937 she married Harry Freudenberger, who predeceased her on July 14, 1993. The couple resided in Uniondale, NY until moving to Port St. Lucie, FL in 1978. In 1993, following the death of her husband, she moved to Stockbridge.
She was also predeceased by daughter Sally who died at birth. Virginia leaves two daughters, Joan Lane (David) of Stockbridge and Carol Sebert (John) of Wilmington, Ohio, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Pittsfield, Grandma Ginny had a level of devotion, humility and joy in God that many could learn from.
A memorial and family gathering will be scheduled in the spring.
