Zaharias “Zack” Giannaris, of Lenox, MA, passed away on April 26, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose generosity, kindness, and quiet strength were felt by all who knew him.
Zack was born in Sparti, Greece, and immigrated to the United States in the mid‑1970s, following in the footsteps of his older brothers. For more than 50 years, he was the proud owner and operator of The Pizza House in Great Barrington, MA, working side by side with his beloved wife, Christina. Customers could always count on being greeted by Zack’s warm smile and gentle presence. A humble yet steady pillar of the community, he generously supported local organizations, churches, schools, and sports teams throughout the Berkshires.
He was a faithful and longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Pittsfield, MA. Together with his family, Zack proudly served and supported the parish and the broader Greek community.
A true Spartan, Zack took great pride in his Greek heritage. He delighted in sharing stories of his life in Greece and had a remarkable way of finding a personal connection with every fellow Greek he met, whether through a shared village, journey, or acquaintance.
Above all else, Zack’s family was his greatest joy. Family was his universe. Alongside his wife, he worked tirelessly to support and provide for their daughters. He especially cherished his role as Papou to his grandsons, whom he adored deeply and who filled his heart with joy.
Zack is survived by his beloved wife, Christina; his daughters, Cindy, and Lela and her husband Stephen Lalooses; and his precious grandsons, Zachary and Peter Lalooses. He also leaves behind many relatives and friends, including his devoted caregiver, his extended Pizza House family of loyal staff and lifelong customers, and his brothers and sisters of the St. George parish. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
