Stuart Raymond Stiles

Stuart Raymond Stiles, 76, of Pittsfield, MA, died at his home on Sunday, September 6, 2026 after a brief illness.

Born in Westfield, MA, January 24, 1950, he was the third child of Henry "Bud" Stiles and Martha (Cook) Stiles. The family moved to Southfield, MA in the early 1950's, and Stuart forever thought of Southfield as home even though he lived in many places throughout his lifetime.

In his early years he attended Mill River Elementary school, and then transferred to Belchertown State School. Fortunately, his years there were few, and he was deinstitutionalized and entered the programs run by Berkshire County ARC for the developmentally disabled. Our family extends our sincere gratitude and appreciation for this organization. A special thank you to Joe, Teresa and Melissa, and all the many staff that took care of Stuart with such care, compassion and kindness.

Stuart was a quiet, gentle soul, who loved his family deeply, and always enjoyed time spent at home in Southfield for holidays and family events. He had many hobbies and interests - music, paint by numbers, "make n' bake" suncatchers - but he was deemed the "puzzle master" since he was so quick and precise doing jigsaw puzzles. We all have framed puzzles and his group home walls are covered in them.

Stuart was predeceased by his parents, his niece Celinda "Cindy" Allyn Lockwood and his two brothers-in-law, Jerry Brusie and Chris Boults.

Stuart is survived by his sisters, Karen Brusie, Diana Paruta (John) and Janice Boults (Matt); his brother, Bruce Stiles; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew.

SERVICE - A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 19th at 1:00 pm in the cemetery in Southfield on Norfolk Road. (The William Henry Lee Memorial Cemetery).
