A History Of Our Location
TAYLOR HILL
• Built in 1815 by George Ives. William Cullen Bryant and his bride lived here with their daughter, Frances, who was born here. Ralph Taylor, Ives’ brother-in-law, purchased the property in 1826 and named it Taylor Hill. After his death in 1886, his son Charles J. Taylor owned it, writing his town history in the small, detached building just south of the main building.
• 1921 Henry A. Stevens moved the funeral home business to its current location.
• September 1964 - Milton L. Stevens moved a home from Elm Street in Great Barrington to its current location on South Street, just above Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home.
• 1999 addition was added that double the size of the funeral home.
